What’s on in July for the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast?

July has some great events on offer across the region. Which makes it a good time to head to the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast or Brisbane.


Gold Coast Airport Marathon      2nd – 3rd July 2016

The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is held annually on the first weekend of July and attracts more than 27,000 participants of all ages and abilities across a number of races. These include the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, Wheelchair Marathon, ASICS Half Marathon, Wheelchair 15km, Southern Cross University 10km Run, Suncorp Bank 5.7km Challenge and Zespri Junior Dash 4km and 2km races.

The 38th annual Gold Coast Airport Marathon will be held Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 July 2016.

 Suzuki State Age Championships              6th– 8th July 2016

The Suzuki State Age Championship is a three-day event that brings together the best of Netball Queensland Association Representative teams. The event will be held at the netball courts on Melaleuca Drive in Palm Beach.

 Sanctuary Cove 4 Ball Challenge               9th July 2016

Kokoda Challenge           16th – 17th July 2016

The Kokoda Challenge 96km Gold Coast, presented by Condev Construction Pty Ltd, is hailed as Australia’s toughest team endurance event. It is a gruelling, cross country team hike (or, if you are a bit crazy, run) over 96km with a time limit for completion of 39 hours.

Each team of four participants (with the help of their Support Crew) trek the 96km course along fire trails, crossing 12 creeks and climbing summits of 5,000m of vertical elevation across the Gold Coast hinterland. The goal is to finish as a complete team of four in honour of the spirit forged on the Kokoda Track in 1942: courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice.

Queensland Garden Expo            8th – 10th July 2016

Queensland Garden Expo is a ‘must see’ in 2016 for green thumbs and novice gardeners alike. Held in the Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Nambour from 8th to 10th July, this three-day expo is Queensland’s premier gardening event attracting 35,000 + visitors from all over Australia and New Zealand. Some of Australia’s leading Gardening experts take part in three days of lectures, demonstrations and workshops. Held at Coronation Avenue, Nambour, gates open at 8am.

Noosa long Weekend Festival   15th – 24th July 2016

Winter Festival                 17th June – 10th July 2016

Get set for some true winter magic at Winter Festival Brisbane. Enjoy open-air ice-skating, tobogganing and powder snow with traditional European culinary delights and captivating entertainment for the whole family from 17 June to 10 July.

In the hub of bustling Brisbane King George Square stands next to the stunning City Hall providing an imposing backdrop for the large outdoor Winter Festival ice skating rink. The ice skating rinks are wheel chair accessible and there are special skates for tiny tots.

Also from the 25th June to 10th July Snow4Kids Park will be open. Which involve real falling snow, mini toboggan slopes and more!

Teddy Bear’s Picnic Raceday       9th July 2016

On Saturday 9 July, Doomben Racecourse will be awash with furry friends, colourful picnic blankets, rides, entertainment and more. Kids can enter their best friends in the furry Fashions on the Field for a chance to win the best dressed teddy bear or best dressed children’s competition.

Regional Flavours            16th– 17th July 2016

Maggie Beer, Matt Preston, George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and more – Australia’s best-known chefs and cooks are coming to Brisbane. Royal Run for Research 24th July 2016

The Royal Run for Research is a great way to get family and friends together for a little healthy exercise and to show support for the researchers and medical teams who strive to keep us healthy.
