It’s the start of a new year and there are plenty of things to do! There’s Burleigh Pro on the Gold Coast, The Color Run on the Sunshine Coast and Cirque Adrenaline in Brisbane.
9th January: Jeep Magic Millions Raceday – CAN’T MISS
Jeep Magic Millions Raceday is a very popular horse racing event on the Gold Coast and in Queensland, and is part of the Magic Millions program that also includes the sales events in January as well. People from various places around the world come to Gold Coast just to experience and enjoy this event. ULTIQA Freshwater Point and ULTIQA Air on Broadbeach are arguably the closest accommodation properties to the Gold Coast Turf club, the home of the Magic Millions.
25th January: Guy Sebastian
Guy Sebastian comes to Jupiters Hotel and Casino as a part of his “You…Me…Us” Tour. Doors open at 6pm.
29th – 31st January: Burleigh Pro 2016
The Burleigh Pro 2016, surfing competition will be held at Burleigh Headland from the 29th – 31st January. This event will bring some of the best surfers to the Gold Coast for a warm up for the Quicksilver Pro and Roxy Pro that are held at Snapper Rocks, Coolangatta each year. This event is for both men and women.
31st January: Ramsay Health Care Triathlon Pink/Fun Run Pink
The Ramsay Health Care Triathlon Pink and Fun Run Pink are two events that are raising funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation. Triathlon Pink is an all-female event whereas Fun Run Pink is a female and male event. Both events are held at the Sports Super Centre in Runaway Bay, only 30 minutes-drive from our two Broadbeach properties.
16th January: The Color Run – CAN’T MISS
The Color Run is back and better than ever. The new colour run involves sparkles, colour and glow with a Shine Tour and Night Time events. This is a 5km run or walk that is not to be missed. Held at the Sunshine Coast Stadium from 9am! Only 20 minutes from ULTIQA Shearwater Resort.
22nd – 24th January: Ginger Flower and Food Festival
2016 marks the 20th annual Ginger Flower and Food Festival. This year’s festival will be held in The Ginger Factory, at Yandina for three days of food, flowers and entertainment. There will be local celebrity chefs and gardening experts. This free festival is a must for families, food lovers and flower lovers. Only a 30 – 40 minute drive from ULTIQA Shearwater on the M1
29th January: Guy Sebastian
Guy Sebastians’ “You…Me…Us” Tour hits The Event Centre, Caloundra this January the 29th. Gates open from 6.30pm.
30th January: The Noosa Summer Swim
The Noosa Summer Swim turns three this year! This year there are many events ranging in distance, including a new 3km Marathon, as well as events for juniors and adults. All races start from the Noosa Surf Club, Noosa Heads. Noosa is only 45 minute drive from ULTIQA Shearwater.
3rd January: Brisbane Heat versus Sydney Thunder
The Brisbane Heat will be playing Sydney Thunder at the Gabba as a part of the KFC T20 Big Bash League. ULTIQA Rothbury is 100 metres from Central station or a 10 minute taxi ride from the Gabba.
7th – 17th January: Cirque Adrenaline
Cirque Adrenaline is full of some of the most dangerous acts and is one of the most adrenaline filled show. Held at the Concert Hall, QPAC. ULTIQA Rothbury – a 10 minute taxi ride or a 30 minute walk down Anne St.
8th January: Brisbane Heat versus Adelaide Strikes
The KFC T20 Big Bash League brings Brisbane Heat to play against Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba.
9th January: FOMO Festival
A brand new music festival, exclusive to Queensland, brought to you by BBE, OCD and Triple J. This Festival is taking place at Brisbane Riverstage.
9th – 13th January: Carnival of the Animals
Circa presents Carnival of the Animals this January at Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Brisbane. This carnival is full of fur, tails and feathers and lots of acrobatics. This family-friendly event is perfect for anyone who loves animals and circuses.
15th January: Victoria Bitter One Day International: Australia versus India – CAN’T MISS
Watch the game of Australia versus India in the One Day International Series at the Gabba.
20th – 23rd January: Aladdin
Queensland’s youth ballet company, Ballet Theatre of Queensland, performs a ballet variation of Aladdin at Playhouse, Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
20th – 30th January: Carrie the Musical
The Broadway musical of Carrie the Musical comes to Brisbane for the very first time. The musical is about a scared 17 year old rebel who has an extreme secret that will ultimately explode in revenge. Shows held at Brisbane Powerhouse.
30th – 31st January: Ride the Night
In order to raise funds to break the cycle of disadvantage for the Brisbane Youth Service, bike riders are heading to the streets of Brisbane to cycle 65km around the city. This is the first event of its kind to be held in Australia, with the ride starting at 12am.
