What’s on in December for the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast

December is the month of happiness and joy and there is certainly some of that with all the events occurring at Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast. There’s Broadbeach Christmas Carols on the Gold Coast, Eumundi Night Markets on the Sunshine Coast and Taylor Swift Concert in Brisbane.


Gold Coast

3rd – 6th December: Australian PGA Championship

The Australian PGA Championship is being held at RACV Royal Pines Resort this year. The contest is likely to attract Australian, European and South African golf professionals. This is one of the oldest golf tournaments in Australia.


4th December: Centre of Christmas

Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre is hosting the Centre of Christmas 2015 from 7.30pm – 12am. Bring your friends and family to enjoy a Christmas dinner with live entertainment and door prizes.

11th – 14th December: PULSE

Do you like extreme sports? This is a live action extreme sports show including BMX, BASE Jumping, Speed flying and many more! Head over to Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre to experience all of these thrilling sports.


12th December: Broadbeach Christmas Carols – CAN’T MISS

The annual Christmas Carols are being held in Kurrawa Park, Broadbeach. There’s kids activities from 3pm and then the carols start from 6pm. Get into the Christmas spirit with a FREE evening by the beach.



19th December: Movies under the Stars

Enjoy this free family event at the Broadwater Parklands and spend a night with family and friends, enjoying movies and food under the stars.




Sunshine Coast

4th – 15th December: Eumundi Night Markets – CAN’T MISS

Enjoy all the crafts, foods and entertainment of the Eumundi Night Markets from 5pm – 9pm every night. There’s Christmas carols and Santa visits as well as free outdoor family movies every week.



5th December: Christmas in Cooroy

Enjoy Christmas in Cooroy from 4pm – 10pm. This free event is hosted by the Rotary Club of Cooroy and the Cooroy Chamber of Commerce. Get into the Christmas spirit with live entertainment, tree decorations, street parade, fireworks and more.


6th December: Sunshine Coast MS Swimathon

Cotton Tree Aquatic Centre, Sunshine Coast is hosting a swimathon to raise money for people living with multiple sclerosis. Anyone can come along and join!

4th December: Rise Against

Rise Against is coming to Brisbane Riverstage from 6pm.  This punk rock band is known for their enthusiastic performances and is political and social messages.

5th December: Taylor Swift – CAN’T MISS

Taylor Swift is coming to Suncorp Stadium on the 1989 World Tour.

5th – 6th December: Hugh Jackman: Broadway to Oz

Hugh Jackman: Broadway to Oz is coming to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.


8th December: Elton John

Brisbane Entertainment Centre will be hosting Elton John, one of the world’s best known performers, when he comes to Brisbane.


11th – 23rd December: Queensland Ballet’s – The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker, performed by the Queensland Ballet, is coming to QPAC in Brisbane. This is a whole-family event that is a perfect start to getting into the Christmas spirit.



11th – 24th December: Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular

The Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular takes place from 7.30pm each night and lasts 15 minutes. This is the city’s most colourful Christmas event. Held in King George Square.


12th December: IGA Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols

The IGA Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols will be held at Brisbane Riverstage. Head over to experience some Christmas spirit with this free family-friendly event.


12th December: Sam Smith

Sam Smith will be playing at Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

19th & 20th December: The Amity Affliction and A Day to Remember

The Amity Affliction and A Day to Remember is coming to the Brisbane Riverstage. These two bands are joining together to create the largest rock performances.


19th December: BIG BASH Women’s Brisbane VS Melbourne/BIG BASH Men’s Brisbane VS Melbourne

BIG BASH will be held at The Gabba with the Women’s Brisbane versus Melbourne and Men’s Brisbane versus Melbourne both occurring on the 19th.



20th December: BIG BASH Women’s Brisbane VS Sydney/BIG BASH Men’s Brisbane VS Hobart

The Gabba will be hosting BIG BASH Women’s Brisbane versus Sydney and BIG BASH Men’s Brisbane versus Hobart on the 20th.


27th December – 1st January: Woodford Folk Festival

The annual 29th Woodford Folk Festival is here with over 2000 artists and musicians performing over six days and nights. There are 35 different performance venues featuring dances, concerts, circus performances, comedy sessions and many more. Located at Woodfordia, Woodford.
