ULTIQA Hotels & Resorts
By admin | February 21, 2017
So you have booked a Gold Coast holiday with your family, grandkids, or cousins. We all know the wonderful joy and frustrating challenges that can come when travelling with the family, but the team at ULTIQA Resorts are experts at finding activities that will keep your kids entertained and laughing, keep the whinging at bay, and will leave them exhausted every night for an easy and quick bedtime! After talking to all of the mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunties and uncles we know, we are happy to present our top 10 activities for holidaymakers with kids on the Gold Coast.
1. Theme Parks
The GC is very well known for its theme parks, so this may seem like an obvious one, however, the theme parks really are the perfect spot to take the entire family. Whether you visit Movie World, Dreamworld, Wet ‘n’ Wild or all three, each park offers enough action and excitement to keep the kids talking about this trip for years. Featuring rides, characters, arcade games, deliciously unhealthy treats, and much more, the Gold Coast theme parks are the perfect first stop for your kids on your next GC holiday. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time online and will save you some money. Kids tickets start from $69.99 for a single day entry pass while adult tickets start at $79.99. Check out www.themeparks.com.au for great package deals that will save you money and let you enjoy more of each of the theme parks.
2. Sea World
While we love the other theme parks, Sea World is a bit unique and special to the ULTIQA team. Located in a different area than the other parks, Sea World is home to some of the cutest animals, including dolphins, seals, penguins, and sharks. Any kids who love animals will absolutely love spending the day at Sea World, visiting each of the animal attractions, riding the thrill rides and checking out some of the awesome shows. We highly recommend the dolphin show to truly “wow” the family. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.themeparks.com.au
3. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
If your family wants to avoid the major crowds of Sea World or just couldn’t get enough animal action, we recommend visiting Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary located in Currumbin. The Wildlife Sanctuary is home to some uniquely Australian animals, including Kangaroos and cuddly Koalas, which you can get up close and personal with in an animal encounter. Watch Australia’s most beautiful species of birds take flight, check out some slimy reptiles, and explore kilometres of natural habitats for all of the animal guests. The Wildlife Hospital is also a favourite with kids, as they can watch vets hard at working getting the animals well again. Tickets are on sale now for $35.00 for Adults and Kids and there are often great sales available on Groupon. Visit www.cws.org.au for complete details
The best free entertainment available on the Gold Coast for kids, Broadwater Parklands has something for every family member. For the youngest kiddos, rock pools are the perfect place to spend the day, featuring little pools, lots of fun water fountains, and some shady spots for lunch. Dotted with play areas throughout the entire area, there are jumping pillows, swings, bike tracks, slides, and bigger playgrounds for the older kids. Surrounded by coastline, the park has perfect access to very calm beach waters, perfect for swimming and splashing around for the youngest of swimmers. Finally, enjoy a meal at the newly refurbished fish and chip shop or at the Catalina Café. The Broadwater Parklands are located on Marine Parade in Southport.
5. Tallebudgera Creek
Located in Palm Beach, Tallebudgera Creek is the perfect lazy swimming hole perfect for all family members of all swimming abilities. Pack up your gear for swimming, fishing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding or hire the equipment from one of the many nearby hire companies. Featuring lots of shady and sunny spaces, bring along your picnic blanket and make a day of paddling in the calm waters of the estuary. Best of all, it is free.
6. Australian Outback Spectacular
With an ever-changing main attraction, the Australian Outback Spectacular takes place in a great arena with a truly country feel. Featuring Australian natives and a scenic backdrop, you will be immersed into the spirit of the Outback. Before the show, kick up your heels with live music and give Bluey the Camp Cook your order for dinner. Then, saddle up as your take a journey through the High Country. The stunts and aerial performances will amaze kids and parents alike and while the humour is kid friendly, it will keep the adults laughing as well. A three course dinner including pumpkin soup, filet steak or char grilled chicken breast, garden vegetables and finished off with a baked Apple pie is sure to please all family members. Tickets start from $99.99 per adults for selected shows and extra upgrades or group booking discounts are also available. To book your tickets, visit www.themeparks.com.au
7. Time Zone
Located in the heart of Surfers Paradise, Time Zone is the perfect place for a boiling hot or rainy day on the Gold Coast. Get the kids out of the elements and into an arcade style environment with tons of video games, bumper cars, and laser skirmish. Perfect for kids of all ages (yes even the adults) Time Zone operates on a pay to play system that is easy to budget but allows the kids to have some freedom. Packages and promotions are available on the Time Zone website at www.timezone.com.au
8. Glow Worms Tour
Visit the spectacular hinterland for great picnics, hikes, and outdoor entertainment. The Tamborine Mountain Glow Worm tour features two large chambers, interlinked by tunnels where you can see the stunning and sparkling glow worms. Guaranteed to see thousands of glow worms all year round, the kids are sure to be amazed by this natural wonder. Spend the day hiking around Mount Tamborine and grab lunch from one of the mountain cafes before going on your tour. Tickets are very reasonable for the entire family, at $12 for adults and $6 for kids. For more information, go to www.glowwormcavetamborinemountain.com.au
9. Currumbin Rock Pools
Another great budget friendly (free) attraction on the Gold Coast is the increasingly popular Currumbin Rock Pools. Nestled down a dirt track off Currumbin Creek Road, the Pools are the perfect place to cool off away from the madness of the Gold Coast Beaches. Enjoy splashing in the shallows or swimming in the deeper pools. There are appropriate areas for young swimmers and adults alike. Pack a picnic and enjoy an entire day of fun in the water.
10. Beach Day + BBQ
The Gold Coast is of course famous for its pristine stretch of magnificent coastline and it would not be a GC holiday without a few days spent at the beach. We recommend Kurrawa Beach, located directly across from ULTIQA Beach Haven and Air on Broadbeach Resorts, as it features a family friendly park area and BBQ facilities for escaping the midday sun. Be sure to swim between the flags and listen to Surf Life Savers for other instructions while enjoying a body surf, boogie board, or splash in the beautiful waves of the Coast.
No matter where you play and visit with the kids while visiting the Gold Coast, we welcome you to stay at one of our three family friendly ULTIQA Resorts- Air on Broadbeach, Beach Haven, and Freshwater Point. All three resorts are located in Broadbeach, providing a central location for all 10 attractions on our list. Each of our resorts features fully equipped self-contained kitchens, providing budget and family friendly alternatives to eating out every meal. Kids will love the pool facilities at all three properties, with parents liking the quiet location of Freshwater Point for nap time or the easy access to the Broadbeach nightlife at Air on Broadbeach. Whatever your holiday requirements and your budget, all three of the ULTIQA Resorts can help you create a memorable holiday perfect for the entire family.
