Always on the move and travelling taking its toll? We know it’s not always easy to stay healthy while travelling that’s why we have put together a few tips to help you.
1.Visit your medical clinic before you trip to get an overall health check before you leave. They will also be able to give you any scripts for your regular medication so your stocked before you go and any vaccinations that you may need for travelling to certain countries. It may also be a great idea to visit the dentist to ensure all is well which could save you having to go to a dentist overseas which could end up being expensive and daunting.
2.If travelling on a plane make sure you keep well hydrated. Try to avoid large amounts of alcohol, tea and coffee. Stand up and stretch regularly and flex your toes and calves while sitting. If you do have long-haul flight, try and break them up with stopovers to aid with fatigue and jetlag.
3.When you arrive at your hotel stock up heathy snacks and use the mini bar to store yoghurt and fruit
4.Being in a new city provides a great reason for exercise. Use exercise as a way to explore and take in your destination
5.While on vacation be in the moment. Give your mind a break from daily stress and give yourself time to unwind and relax so that you don’t get burnt out down the track.
6.Avoid the buffet, this will only lead to being tempted and overeating making you feel bloated for the rest of the day. Rather go to a restaurant or café who serves healthy alternatives and only eat till you are full.
7.When heading out for the day apply sunscreen, wear a hat and be in the shade when you can in order to avoid sunburn and dehydration.
Most importantly enjoy your break and enjoy all the special moments that vacations bring. Its these memories that you will carry forever. Try your best to be healthy while travelling but also take time to enjoy a break and occasional indulgence.
