Caloundra and the sunshine coast are home to some amazing events over the next few months. To entice you to come up and visit us, here is a list of things to see and do on the Sunshine Coast in March, April and May.
13th – 15th March Queensland Oztag Senior State Cup – Kawana
Over 100 teams will be on the Sunshine Coast representing men’s, women’s and mixed divisions across u16’s to over 45’s. They will all be fighting for the 2015 Senior State Cup Champions. Teams will travel from as far away as the Gold Coast to the south and Tropical North Queensland to the north.
20th – 22nd March Queensland Surf Life Saving Championships – State Juniors PLUS
27th – 29th March Queensland Surf Life Saving Championships – State Seniors
These championships are the main event on the Surf Life Saving Queensland’s calendar and this year it will be held on this Sunshine Coast. There will be over 2,000 competitors from all over the state battling the waves to become the Queensland Champion.
27th March Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Race
With a line up to rival the Sydney to Hobart the Sydney to Mooloolaba is an annual event that has been held for over 20 years.
The 2015 Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Race is a Cat 2 race open to eligible multihulls and monohulls with separate trophies for each.
The yachts will come past directly in-front of ULTIQA Shearwater Resort so this is the chance to sit on your balcony and watch these beauties in their glory.
3rd and 10th April Caloundra Twilight Markets
Just a short walk from ULTIQA Shearwater Resort, located in Bulcock Beach Esplanade, the street will get closed for the evening between 5pm & 9pm and is sprawled with over 100 stalls offering street foods, fashion, jewelry and many other local unique items. You will find something for the whole family here.
25th April ANZAC DAY
Kings Beach will be the focus this year for the 100th Anniversary of ANZAC Day. The Dawn Service will commence directly across the road from ULTIQA Shearwater Resort at 5:20am with a line-up of military dignitaries and boats lining Kings Beach. Following the service we will be offering a Gun Fire Breakfast in the Vue Room.
26th April Mooloolaba Mile Ocean Swim
After severe weather in February, the 2015 event has been rescheduled to Sunday April 26. The main event is a one mile course, which is an iconic open water distance around the globe for elite swimmers, but is also well within reach for beginner and novice ocean swimmers. The event brings in high profile people including Australian Swimming Champion Michael Klim
14th – 17th May Noosa International Food & Wine Festival
Just a short drive from ULTIQA Shearwater Resort you will find over 200 chefs, producers and local wine makers set up to show off their skills.
Some of the celebrities involved this year are Colin Fassnidge, Matt Golinski and Peter Kuruvita
30th May Big Pineapple Music Festival
Set against the backdrop of QLD’s iconic Big Pineapple this year’s festival is set to amaze and will rock the Sunshine Coast.
Included in the line-up is John Butler Trio, The Jezebels, Violent Soho, Jebediah plus a special Tripe J Unearthed guest. There are also courtesy buses running to and from Caloundra so you won’t need to worry about driving.
